July 4-The World Can’t Forget

July 4-The World Can’t Forget: "

Every human being was created to accomplish something specific that no one else can accomplish. It is crucial for you to understand this truth: You were designed to be known for something special. You are meant to do something that will make you unforgettable. You were born to do something that the world will not be able to ignore. It may be in your church, your community, your state, or beyond.

The Bible is a great book for recording the stories of people who did little things that the world can’t forget. One example is Rahab, the prostitute, who risked her life for people she didn’t even know. She was born to hide Joshua’s spies so that the Israelites could defeat Jericho.(See Joshua 2, 6). Everyone who reads the Old Testament knows about her act of courage.

In the New Testament, there is the story of the woman who took an alabaster jar of perfume and anointed Jesus’ head with it. This woman was taking a chance by violating the accepted social code of the day and interrupting a group of men who had gathered for a meal. She decided to pour out her life in gratitude to Jesus, no matter what the consequences. Some of those present severely criticized her because she had “wasted” costly perfume on Jesus when it could have been sold for charitable purposes. Yet Jesus said to them, “Let her alone…Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her” Mark 14:6-9 (KJV). No matter how small the act may be, if you put your whole life into it, it won’t be forgotten.

Prayer: Father, I am encouraged that as I serve You, I will accomplish things that will not be forgotten. My desire is to put my whole life into service for You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thought: You were designed to be known for something special.

Abuse Is NEVER OKAY!!!!

If someone you know is being abused, reach out to them, pray for them, always remembering to be sensitive to their situation. They may NEVER choose to leave an abusive relationship, but that is not our concern. We are to be a sister and a friend to them.
I'm posting this because I recieved a request through an online Singles forum that I'm apart of, to pray for a person's female neighbor. Just this morning the neighbor was assualted by a man she's in a relationship with. What angered me was the response of another member of the forum. He went on to say that maybe we are taking the law into our hands when we call 911 for people. And that they may not be deserving of mercy. I was so angry that he really had come to believe this as truth. Beloved, we are NOT to decide who is deserving of mercy and who is undeserving. We were not deserving of the sacrifice our Heavenly Father provided through the death and ultimate ressurection of His Son and now our Lord Jesus. So, if you have a neighbor/friend being brutalized, and you are made aware, PRAY AND CALL 911!! You do not have to give your name or contact information. Tell a leader in the church if you know what you share will be between you, your freind/neighbor, and that leader or the Pastors-and will stay private.
Whether or not your freind/neighbor becomes angry with you and vows to never speak to you again, we are called by God to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Them cutting us out of their life is just a risk we have to take. Take THAT risk as opposed to remaining silent and risking losing them forever. And I am certain if any one of us were in a violent situation that we would want SOMEONE ANYONE to call for help!

Loneliness

I know the frustration-bar hopping, being at the club for HOURS....Basically, working all week, looking forward to Friday to get fresh to def from head to foot, only to sit and drink waiting for someone (sometimes ANYONE) to notice me. Or downing shot after shot after shot to impress friends and dudes with my tremendous ability to 'hold my liquor'. Or, getting on the dance floor to be seen. Hoping that 'Mr. Right' will find me there, knowing better, because of my Christian background. The only people there were, as Dr. Creflo Dollar put it, "...lonely people looking for lonely people..." Humorously enough, just about every time I went out with my girlfriends I'd hear Dollar's words in my head. The alcohol drowned them, but never completely, out. I am amazed at how long some people stay in this state-I was bored after three months. But, some people stay with it for a substantial amount of their lifetime, before they either grow weary of it, or come to know Christ and see the dead-end sign. I still have old friends in it. We have no business, as women of God, hunting after a man. They are to find us. Ah! Therein lies the issue: Are we truly willing to rest in our Heavenly Father's promise to sustain us? Because, contrary to popular beliefs (outside AND within the Church), marriage will not cure loneliness. Loneliness is a sickness of the heart. For instance, if I am suffering with being in a state of loneliness, a mate will not help me, not even a friend or family member. Having a pet won't do it either. I have to come to the understanding that i am never alone because God is with me always (Psalm 16:5 & 8). Then, when I have feelings of loneliness, I can call on Him for comfort. God may then prompt a friend to call me to hang out, or He may prompt me to go visit a family member. Being alone and being lonely; two separate states of being. Now we can see how a husband won't cure loneliness; only God can. This may happen quickly, or becoming free from loneliness may take time. But, only God will break me free from the grip of loneliness. Beloved, don't get caught up in how many men are interested in your girlfriends, or at how many chicks are throwing their numbers at your boy. It is deception.
